Among the game's discord server, Matlack has emphasized the scope of the character and that big plans have been made to match Peter Parker's significance:

Spider-Man is what we call an 'event' so he will have cutscenes and a story for sure.

Given how expansive Black Panther's story was, Spider-Man may even follow a similar route. Square Enix is also planning to bring Loki, Scarlett Witch, and more to the game, as showcased by a leak earlier this year.

Alongside the aforementioned DLC, Insomniac Games recently announced a sequel to Marvel's Spider-Man, while it has been speculated that the friendly neighbourhood superhero will arrive in Midnight Suns.
