A rumour from Reddit user, u/Smooth-Earth2875, claims that Infinity will act as somewhat of a reboot for the Assassin's Creed series.

Smooth-Earth said that, instead of focusing on a single character, the project might follow multiple individuals in various settings. It would be similar to the structure of IO Interactive's Hitman trilogy, and more content is expected to launch after release, similar to a season pass.

"After the initial release additional stories will be available for a (currently) undetermined amount. Included in these stories may be reimagined versions of older games using only a few of their best levels," they said.

"The leak is reportedly verified by modders, adding some truth to the claims. However, it has also been flagged by one modder due to claims of a 'free version" of Infinity.' So, the information should still be taken with a giant pinch of salt."

In its latest financial earnings, Ubisoft's CEO, Yves Guillemot, confirms that Infinity will not be free-to-play and is planned as a premium package. Guillemot also reiterates that elements from past titles will be included in the ambitious project. He said:

It’s not going to be free to play and this game will have a lot of narrative elements in it. It’s going to be a huge game but with lots of elements that already exist in the games that we published in the past.

A new Bloomberg report from Jason Schreier says Ubisoft is developing Assassin's Creed Infinity, and reports suggest it could be the first free-to-play AC game. Schreier said the game is a live-service title, following in the footsteps of GTA Online and Fortnite. The game is expected to incorporate multiple worlds, characters, and items from past Assassin's Creed entries and will integrate them on an online platform. Schreier said:

Infinity will contain multiple settings with room to expand to others in the months and years following its debut, said the people, who asked not to be identified discussing a project under development. Individual games on the platform might look and feel different, but they will all be connected.

Both Ubisoft Montreal and Ubisoft Quebec will collaborate on Assassin's Creed Infinity development, with Quebec in the lead. The report game is expected to last years, with a continuous supply of content and gear being added to the title.

Following its leak, a Ubisoft spokesperson immediately confirmed that the title is true and is in early production.

Release Date

The title is still in early development, so, a launch date is seemingly expected for 2024 or maybe even 2025. However, that's just a guess, as there's no evidence yet to suggest when Infinity might release.

What Is Assassin's Creed Infinity?

Assassin's Creed Infinity is a forthcoming game in the long-running franchise. However, it may not follow the traditional path most new AC games follow. Instead, the game will follow a live-service model of gaming, which is driving games like Fortnite, Rocket League, Apex Legends, and more.

Though details remain scarce, the game is expected to package worlds, characters, and stories from past Assassin's Creed titles. Even though it will keep its narrative core, online and multiplayer elements are speculated to show up as well.

Trailer And Gameplay

Even though Ubisoft has confirmed Infinity, an official announcement trailer is yet to be released. Considering we're a few years out and with another sequel expected in between, it's likely we won't get footage for some time. We'll update you as soon as the first preview drops.
