Development Layoffs - May 1

Toys for Bob, developers of Spyro and Crash Bandicoot, has been hit with some unexpected layoffs after a major shift in focus.

This comes after Toys for Bob officially announced they are working with Activision to help development on the third season of Call of Duty Warzone.

In a response to the announcement Nicholas Kole, the lead character designer for the Spyro Trilogy and Crash Bandicoot 4, stated that he and the rest of the team working on Warzone have now been let go from the original studio.

Although this move to Warzone may be temporary, it's unclear whether it'll affect the development and release date of the upcoming game.

Info Dump? - April 19

According to a post on Reddit quoting YouTuber Canadian Guy Eh as a source, Spyro 4's development began last year at Beenox.

Pinch of salt at the ready, but according to the information the game is being developed in Unreal Engine 4, offers returning characters, and some RPG elements.

Interestingly, the post claims it was originally in development at Vicarious Visions who are now leading the Diablo II Remake.

An announcement is expected later this year.

Is Spyro 4 Happening?

Release Date

Obviously, nothing has been confirmed about Spyro 4 yet but there are rumours.

The tweet below from Canadianguyehh shows a post from 4chan which seems to leak most of the relevant information.

Apparently, the game will be announced in Q1 of 2021 and released in Q3.

Again, 4chan, so I wouldn't even take it with a brick of salt. This one seems alot less believable than Crash Legends. The concept is a bit farfetched to be honest, the 4 also looks a bit odd and stands out like a sore thumbBut we will have to see... Might only be a temp title pic.twitter.com/nlxAqaGl7d

Story & Characters

According to the 4chan post above, Spyro will be travelling all around the world.

Levels will be inspired by Greek, Chinese, Nordic and Japanese pantheons otherwise known as gods.

Apparently, there will also be a roster of playable characters.

Some of these include Hunter, Elora, Bianco, a female Spyro known as Cynder will work the same way Coco does in Crash 4.

The main villain looks to be a wyvern, one of the ancient enemies of the freed dragons from Spyro 1.

Bear in mind the 4chan post is unverified information, so take the rumours with a pinch of salt.
