Desperately itching to delve back into the brutal fistfights and in-depth eating experiences of the Yakuza series?

Well, you’re in luck as, thanks to a YouTube video first reported on by Famitsu, we’ve gained a first look at what some of the star protagonists of the upcoming Yakuza 8 might look like.

From Ichiban Kasuga to Koichi Adachi and Yu Nanba, three of the best look to be making a return in the new game.

Wondering Who You Might See in the Next Yakuza Adventure?

The images of these fine individuals come via a YouTube video by Japanese MMA fighter Mikuru Asakura, which sees him take a tour around Sega Sammy’s offices, part of which takes place in the main offices where developers are working on the game, which is where the character glimpses can be seen.

Arguably the most interesting revelation to come out of the brief shots of the characters concerns Ichiban Kasuga, who seems to have opted for a slightly different look, having ditched his afro for more of a slicked-back ponytail.

It’s not quite Kazuma Kiryu switching from white suit to tropical shirt during his numerous attempts at retirement, but it’s still an eye-catching switch up for the esteemed ruiner of bad guy faces.

Outside of these images, info on Yakuza 8 remains scarce, with GamesRadar having reported last year that it’ll be set several years after the events of Yakuza: Like a Dragon and will continue to feature the turn-based combat that the series pivoted to in that game.

However, if you’re looking for a fresh Yakuza experience right now and have played through all of the games in the series to date, you could try playing through Fallout New Vegas as Kazuma Kiryu, slapping up bloodthirsty raiders instead of Japanese gang members.

Regardless of whether Kiryu Vegas sounds like your kind of thing, make sure to follow us for more Yakuza 8 updates whenever more information about the game comes to light.
