Following Metroid Dread's massive success when it debuted in October, an insider mentioned that more Metroid is likely on the way soon. Noted leaker Emily Rogers said the Switch port for Metroid Prime is "already complete" and ready for release in 2022 to celebrate the game's 20th anniversary.
Rogers followed up on her original statement that she knew a Metroid Prime remake was in the works with more details. The Switch version of Metroid Prime will reportedly run on a new engine with fresh assets. Nintendo originally planned to use that as a foundation for remaking Metroid Prime 2 and Metroid Prime 3, though Rogers said plans for those are now uncertain.

Metroid Prime Switch Port Is Reportedly Finished
Rogers originally reported the remake's development a few months ago:
“Last I heard, Nintendo was busy working on Metroid Prime 1 to celebrate the game’s 20th anniversary in 2022. I’m not sure if we’re getting a ‘trilogy’ or just a re-release of the first game. I’m leaning toward the latter, but I hope we get the former.”
Metroid Prime saw some hype once again during the release of Metroid Dread, as did every other Metroid game available on Nintendo devices. Fortunately for Metroid fans, it won't be the last we hear from Samus either.
