Castlevania Netflix Producer Sues After Exclusion From Upcoming Spin-Off Series

In the absence of a new Castlevania game, Netflix's recent anime adaptation has gone down tremendously with fans. Following Season 4's release earlier this year, that storyline has now concluded but an upcoming spin-off is planned.

Starring Richter Belmont and Maria Renard, that's based around 1993 entry Castlevania: Rondo of Blood, but not everyone is happy. According to Hollywood Reporter, producer Adi Shankar doesn't appear to be involved, and he's filing a lawsuit through the Los Angeles Superior Court.

Castlevania Netflix Producer Sues After Exclusion From Upcoming Spin-Off Series

Namely, this complaint targets fellow producer Kevin Kolde, who Shankar claims excluded him from this upcoming project to boost his own profits. Specifically, that claims:

Kolde concocted a scheme to expand the Castlevania universe while simultaneously cutting Shankar out of the Agreement the parties made, and boosting Kolde’s profits. Shankar was never consulted or even informed of the new spinoff series.

Accordingly, Shankar is suing for a breach of contract, claiming they had an oral agreement which included the right that he'd be “locked” for any further projects, have creative approval, and take a 33% compensation stake. We'll keep you informed as further details emerge about this lawsuit.
